Ack. "They must have been high when they thought up this game"... "This game looks sad". Just a few of the comments I have seen across the internet describing Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg. Poor guy. People are looking at the graphics - they've seen that they are not 'mature', and started complaining. What a shame. Because, Billy Hatcher, like Zelda: The Wind Waker, has some good quality gameplay behind those graphics. The game is coming on brilliantly!
Billy Hatcher is a young boy who has magical powers that can be used to control eggs. These magical powers come from the strange chicken suit he wears. Billy needs to use various eggs throughout the game to solve puzzles, and to open new areas. It's Billy's job to save the world from the evil King who wants to plunge the world into an everlasting night. Only Billy can save the world by hatching the six legendary roosters!

As you can expect from Sonic Team, the graphics are great! They're colourful, there are good models, and the game runs at a constant 60 frames per second. Very smooth! However, the gameplay is something else. It revolves around eggs - Billy is useless on his own, only being able to jump and talk (not at the same time). When Billy Hatcher gets hold of eggs, he can roll them at enemies and obstacles... after which the egg returns magically to Billy. He can push eggs around and use them to hold down switches and the like. He can even throw eggs! But that's not all! Using fruit found around the various worlds, Billy can make an egg grow bigger and bigger. When an egg is big enough, Billy can hatch it and reveal a new creature. The creature can then be used in special puzzles, and for fighting the bigger enemies!
So far, everything about Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg seems perfect... from the gameplay to the realistic physics. I'm sure that when this game is released it will be a joy to play! Kiddy? Pah!
