Re: The Ancient Cave

When I was younger, in the nineties, I had spent days trying and retrying this Ancient Cave. Good runs meant something like 8 hours of play or more, without any save of course. In the end, after several unsuccessful runs, I had finally managed to reach the 99th floor. But at that time, there was no...

Re: The Ancient Cave

Yes, so do I. In fact, I was already around 18 when I played the Ancient Cave in the 1990s but I had much time during my holidays and that's why I could afford several of these incredibly long runs and eventually reach the 99th floor... once . But I can't imagine the number of runs I'd have needed t...

Re: The Ancient Cave

For most games, yes, but when you have to make your way through 99 floors between each try (each try meaning several hours of effort, without any save and without knowing if you're not going to be eventually wiped out by a pair of Gold Dragons), can the "trial and error" method really be a...

Re: The Ancient Cave

Thanks for your answer, Balzak. I have to say at that time (second half of the 1990s), after having spent several 8+-hour-sessions trying to complete the Ancient Cave with all the fails and frustation you can imagine, finally reaching the 99th floor was a big victory for me. So being rewarded with a...

What would you add to Lufia II (SNES)?

I think we all agree here to say Lufia II is an incredibly good RPG (the best I've ever played as far as I'm concerned). However, do you see little things that could be added/improved? I would mention : - an in-game world map (unless there's one and I never found it?). As soon as you get the ship, i...

Re: Lufia 2 sprite question

You mean an abnormal condition would not be displayed in the same way, depending it applies on heroes or on enemies?

Re: What would you say the franchise's "iconic" creatures are?

I can't say I've played the whole series but to me, the most iconic thing of Lufia II is not a creature. However, it's present in each episode, like iconic creatures in other series. What I talk about is obviously the Ancient Cave.

Re: Lufia 2 sprite question

Up. Two other Lufia II (SFC/SNES/SNIN) sprite-related questions. Two things I had not noticed when I played the (US version of the) game 20 years ago but I notice today when playing the PAL version : - weapons being held on fight screen by the heroes are always the same, no matter what is equipped. ...

Re: About the PAL version of Lufia II (for Super Nintendo)

Ok, thanks SinReVi. I tend to agree with you. The odd thing is that, when you look for Lufia II roms on the Internet, you find the NTSC ones (US and Jap) but when it comes to PAL you find : Lufia (Germany) Lufia (Netherlands) Lufia (Spain) Lufia (Europe) And no mention of the Australian version. Fur...

Re: About the PAL version of Lufia II (for Super Nintendo)

Up.

The author of this FAQ about Lufia II talks about a PAL Australian version and also about a PAL British version (for instance, search for the word "zidanax", he refers to the British version shortly after).
Do you think a PAL British version might really exist?

About the PAL version of Lufia II (for Super Nintendo)

A topic dedicated to the PAL version of Lufia II. I'd have a few questions about it. 1. Is the Australian version the only PAL version with English in-game texts? 2. I know a few differences between the PAL version(s) and the NTSC-US version: - Of course, language difference for German, Spanish and ...

Re: Lufia II: "Made in Mexico" / "Made in Japan"?

Thanks for your answer, SinReVi. I had already visited the link you mention but people there seemed to guess rather than really be sure. So I wanted to have a confirmation, that's why I came here to ask. Nobody here bought a "Made in Japan" copy of the game in the 90's ? Besides, does anyb...
