I've started to play around with some ideas: http://www.planetnintendo.com/lufia/tes ... ndard.html

I'm aiming for a "simplified" Planet site look.

Probably easy for you to do that too. GameSpy's hosting isn't giving you problems.

Remember the lagging on dynamic5.gamespy.com and dynamic6.gamespy.com? It was partly my fault! My topsites lists were getting far too large, and were draining server resources.

I have this feeling that the problems on dynamic4.gamespy.com have come from the PHP/MySQL topsites. GSR's is getting very large - it must make a heck of a lot of requests.

And that's true, but the fact that GSI isn't stepping in and doing anything about it is starting to tick me off, because this is affecting my site, and when I'm trying to keep my dying forum afloat it just kills everything.

I'm also thinking that the whole "blocking" thing may have been caused at possible heavy-traffic times, or when the SQL was taking on too many requests and possibly rejecting some, counting them as errornous and eventually blocking the connection.

Either way, the way this is going, I don't think I can rely on GameSpy, especially now that D4 is down altogether now

Well... I guess this would be a good time to get things back on topic.

(I must admit, I don't like the lack of techsupport over the weekends... :( )

Anyway, I've been working a little more on the design: http://www.planetnintendo.com/lufia/tes ... ndard.html

Also, I tried it out here: http://www.forumplanet.com/planetnintendo/lufia/ (note that the default css hasn't been changed).

(Re: ForumPlanet - I am considering re-opening the FP board in the future as a second board, if our community grows when we cover other games. Note that this phpBB will remain the main forum.)

I do like it a lot. i'm just worried it won't come up high on the ratings anymore.

Search engine results shouldn't be affected too much, I'm hoping Lufia World's results will remain high! :)

Search engines rarely affect site hits. That's what you end up telling people as a DMOZ editor. lol

Note: I'm not sure how long TAC will be a hosted site for, so you might wanna make a note of that. :P

Oh right, it's moving to "ancientcaveDOT!com" (hopefully :P) Now don't you feel special?
