Canadian History Question

Postby KeiKusanagi » Sat Jul 02, 2005 2:11 am

I was sitting down at work and trying to pass the time by thinking back to my old World History II class and I thought something, I really never learned anything about Canadian history, most of the class covered was European History and a small fraction of Asian. So I did some small research and I have a question, when did Canada become it's own country, was it in 1840 with "Act of the Union" or was it 1926 with the Balfour Declaration?

Sorry if I have any facts wrong, I'm just interested. I plan to be a history major so something like this will bug me until I know, Thank for any help.

Would you be talking about when Canada formed, or when it broke off of the British Empire?

Canada was formed on July 1st, 1867, and broke off from the British Empire in Feb. 1982.
