Unnofficial forum rules *PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING!*

Postby DualBladeAlstadtMilitary » Mon Feb 27, 2006 8:55 am

In light of recent events regarding spambots and in some cases irrelevant posts and such, it has come to my attention that LWF never really had a set of rules, so to say. We've had general guidelines, as has been posted in the newbie forum, but not actual rules. I think after so long without them, we finally need some.

For now, I've created a temporary rule set using TACF's rules as a basis. However, these rules are NOT official. I would, however, encourage all mods to go by this.

So anyway... without further ado...

~The Unofficial Rules of LWF~

1. Flaming sucks - LWF is a very close knit community, and thus we are a happy one. (Not in that hippy type of way though. That's just freaky.) We don't need flames and trolls throwing insults around.

2. Spam is to be eaten; not posted. - Advertising of websites is not allowed outside the site ads forum. (In addition, you must have a certain number of posts before advertising on the site ads forum.) We don't wanna know about your crappy fake online pharmacies or your hardcore pr0n. Spam is subject to immediate deletion, and anyone who spams on their first post will be reported to Chris and banned.

3. Don't @#$%ing swear. - If you feel the need to swear, censor it.

4. Quality over quantity. - Posts should be a certain length where relevant. Outside the forum games forum, please keep your posts to a minimum of three words.

5. No begging/providing of ROMs whatsoever. - ROMs are illegal. It doesn't matter what that ROM website told you, they're illegal, always have been, and always will be. Providing them is not only spam but is promoting illegal activities. Asking for ROMs is not allowed, either. Anyone providing/begging for ROMs on their first post will be banned!

6. Stay on topic. - This should be self explanitory.

7. No adult rated material. - I don't care if a discussion itself gets out of hand, but there shall be no posts that contain adult rated material. This includes pornography, explicit fanfics, and links to adult rated sites.

8. Mark your spoilers! - Change the colour to blend into the background, put a big *SPOILERS* mark along with blank lines, whatever you want. Just do NOT display them without putting a spoiler warning in!

9. No begging for staff positions. Asking "can I be a mod?" will just guarantee that you won't become one.

10. If a post is moderated/deleted/edited, do not repost it. Reposting a moderation makes you look like a jerk and irritates the mods.

All disciplinary actions are at the discretion of the moderator dealing with it. If a problem is encountered, please PM a moderator.

Chris, lemme know how this sounds. ;)

Well, I for one think these rules look very nice.

You've got the basics covered, but I can't help thinking there is something missing.

Unfortunately, I haven't really been here long enough to know exactly what this forum needs.

EPIC FAIL: FREEDOM ON THE INTERNET

Why did you think Nintendo didn't make it to where you can talk to random people online. Anonymity on the internet with no rules ends up like XBOX Live and another unmentionable site.

thanks for the answer.

now how does censoring work? do you have to "bleep" the whole word or just a letter?

sorry for asking... i just don't wish to get in trouble, if ya know what i mean.

There is automatic censoring for banned words.

Just a general question...how adverse are you guys to bumping old threads?

I know it's not forum etiquette (I'm a moderator of a forum myself), but this board doesn't seem extremely busy, so I just thought I'd ask.
Here's my review. THIS is how much I love this game.

Depends on the thread really. In fact, probably makes things a lot easier starting up an old thread for discussing and old topic to manage than starting up an entirely new thread. Trust me I know.

As for locking older topics that no longer matter (AKA the April Fools one) then feel free to request locks.
