Too many posts on one simple topic, eh? Now, I love the style of traditional RPG's, but I would like to see an action/rpg version of Lufia. You'd agree with me if you've ever played Castlevania - Symphony of the Night, or Aria of Sorrow. I happen to enjoy all of the training a regular turn-based rpg, but figure this: the rpg elements of Lufia, mixed with a Zelda-like feel. I cannot be the only one who wonders.
.....and I have the power to confront that swell?

*Thread Necromancery*

Behold! The power of Newb!

I would be fine with next gen, I would be fine with Wii Ware emulating SNES. I would be fine with RPG Maker knock offs!

I WANT ANOTHER LUFIA DAMN IT!!! ONE THAT DOESN'T SUCK!!!

*ahem* Well... I'm sure if we bring the good concepts of all the games in the series it would make the most fantastic Lufia game. Also would you mind Lufia in "a new perspective" if it was in 3D?

Either in a good way or a bad way... It all depends if the game's newest perspective would work.

Personally, I think that simple camera control (even with the Wii remote) is possible to keep the game as classic.

Example, You are in a rectangular room with the default camera at overhead view and straight up north.

Now being able to hold the A button (Wii controls) and pressing left or right on the Control Pad you can rotate the compass angles at around +/- around 45 degrees. Using up and down will rotate the camera from a full top overhead view to 3/4 overhead view to to top back view to full ground view (based on character facing north).

Good thing about Lufia is that nothing moves unless you do so standing still to look around is a good idea. It would probably be useless with the ability to rotate a free camera at 360 degrees. In general it would disorient the players. At least this way, up will always move you north. Except in certain areas, then the camera goes into something called Cinematic View.

Any background/foreground that would obstruct the view of the party in this view will be transparent until character moves out of the way.

Moving in 8 directions in Ruins of Lore was misplaced because it was 2D. It might work in a 3D Lufia game though. Saying if diagonal movements were two paces (steps) instead of 1.

Sadly, the grid-like movement would still be there. If we can hide it properly then it might be near-unnoticeable. Also cuts scenes will ignore this limited movement.

Yes I wrote a general design documentary for Lufia on the Wii. Will it be published or used? Probably not.

I wouldn't mind a 3D version. To me, whether the graphics stay 2D or move to the next generation is irrelevant, as long as the designers are able to pull off the system right. A great gameplay and an endearing story (whether the story is cliche but good or completely original and good) always trumps the graphic design unless the graphic advancements or limitations get in the way of playability.

I personally like having to rotate a camera to check every little part of a room so I don't get myself in trouble. It also provides me a good laugh when I forget to check or otherwise set myself up to get ambushed on accident.

It would actually be pretty funny to see a 3D version with the whole monster moves when you move .........Was lufia the only game that held that trait?

That has NOTHING to do with the monkey!

1. Sinistrals and Dual Blade
2. Light shed on Arek
3. Graphics very much like Thousand Arms (a very odd, yet well drawn rpg where you are a blacksmith that dates women to become a better blacksmith...check out the graphics)
4. Lufia II Battle System
5. Foomy (lol maybe even a foomy village! =D)
6. Maybe a more defined Maxim/Selan connection... I dunno how they'd do it... but if they did it well it could be cool... maybe a DBZ style "up in heaven" sorta thing.
7. Casino
8. Ancient Cave

That's all I got, seriously tho, they could easily make a Next-Gen Lufia whilst keeping the nostalgia with Thousand Arms style graphics.

1. No duh! Everyone wants it.
2. That's what we've been shouting about for the past seven years.
3. The graphics of that game was for Playstation. Thus making Lufia graphic for a hand held system. Actually making it two generations behind like it's been. (Hey, Ruins Chasers should've been like that or something.)
4. Battle system modeled after Lufia II. I like the arrangement of Lufia I's system. They're both the same except Lufia II is more of a traditional turn base.
5. I'll keep that in mind. Why not?
6. Lufia with DBZ style... *slaps Rezic* Never say that again!
Maxim/Selan connection. Well I'm sure about a Maxim/Selan connection for a Lufia I secret dungeon. Unfortunately, it'll be an "end game event" thing.
7. That's it? Why not Bingo or Black Jack? Hell, let's put in Roulette.
8. Didn't you mean 300 level Ancient Cave?

For graphics, I'm thinking all out 3D. Not 2.5D (Thousand Arms, Disgea, and other games with 2D sprites and 3D backgrounds). Have you seen the cell shading of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance? I was thinking that for a next gen home system. The hand held games is passable right now with a 2.5D graphics.

If it had Path of Radiance graphics I'd love it. That was done beautifully.

Well obviously they'd up the quality a bit, but I couldn't see an all out 3d Lufia... that's just weird, unless it was at like.... a 3/4 birds eye veiw sorta deal... plus I did like the conversation transition when it went from sprited to anime.

and okay not DBZ style for the Maxim/Selan thing... but maybe an alternate world, where you could play as them... or something... sorry =P Lufia II was my favorite game, so Maxim is my favorite hero =P
