Lufia TLR Makes my spellcheck kill itself

Postby Volt » Fri Feb 27, 2009 12:34 am

Honestly, I thought FF7 had some major grammar problems and spelling errors and stuff, but LTR makes my eyes bleed. Just what the F*CK is up with that game? I'm playing TLR right now just for the sake of seeing how the story goes (havent finished it yet), but so far the game makes my eyes bleed.

"Unded ring", "celabrate", crap like that. Honestly, did they pay an 8 year old to put the text together? The spelling alone almost makes me want to curse this game.

Just need to release this anger. It's f*cked up that a game can have such HORRIBLE grammar and spelling.

[edit]

"Dosen't look like it's from a sword"

jesus christ, my eyes ARE bleeding now.

Well... PREPARE FOR EVEN MORE SPELLING ERRORS!!
This game is full of them. Actually, most of the games translated by Natsume have lots of spelling errors but I think this one has the most (from the games I have played).

Lufia 2 only had very few that were noticable I think.

And yeah... I got a bit further into TLR and to be honest... I like the story so far. but if I'd review it like I did years back (on sites as a hobby, not professionally), I'd probably blast this game into the void :/.... and not just for the spelling.

Lufia 2 has some mistakes like:

- passing the Southeast Tower on the wayto Sundletan
- Narcysus / Narsysus
- Prince Leon called Alex twice
- switching blue and green regarding the jewel in that tower
- Selan speaking a line of the King of Parcelyte
- Prince Klaus / Klause
- Idura thratening Maxim's and Selan's life instead of Jeros' life in the lighthouse when he steps one step closer to Jeros

There are also some inconsistencies like:

- Alse / Arus
- first saying "Magical Wife" and then saying "Magic Lady"

Oh there are also inconsistencies in TLR.
A few of them:
Mologolo - Mologoro
Alheim - Almheim
Isaac - Issac
and more

A few that are inconsistent for the other Lufia games:
Arek is called Alekdias (his japanese name)
Priphea is called Prefia
One time Milka says Artia instead of Artea/Arty. I think everyone else in TLR called him Arty.
Maxim's Wave Ring is called Red Ring. (I checked the Japanese version)
Dekar Blade is called DeckerBlade (I checked the japanese version)
And blahblahblah

Yeah, it's fun to pick out spelling errors in Natsume's games because they are so numerous. Though I tend to miss them if the first and last part of a word are spelled correctly because I read so fast. Errors like misnaming people or using a different name altogether because the localization changed from game to game, however, don't get by me so easily because they're so obvious.

There's also a little mistake in the following line:

"Dekar! The time has
finally come for you
to use your skills to
their Maximum!"

Doesn't seem to be wrong. But what might happen if the hero isn't called Maxim?

This line only works correct if the hero is called Maxim. Otherwise the "Maxim" part in the word Maximum will also change to the other name.

I stumbled over it because of the usage of a capital letter at the word "Maximum" and so I saw that they used the hero's name there as well.

Oh I try to ignore it if there's a small typo or something... but honestly seeing mistakes, messed up grammar, or downright stupid spelling errors every 3 lines of text (I am not even that far off I think) just annoys me.

This RPG makes me want to kill myself. Everything I try to do to help myself seems to not matter. I bought new armor & instead of taking less damage from the 1st enemy I fought (that I'd fought before) I took more. This is bull!!!! I hate this!!! Fricking lack of money! Hate Hate Hate!!!! GRRRRRRR!!!!!!

What should someone do if they think they're inside Lufia? (I or II, IDK.)
