Natsume Revealing New Game

Postby Dekar The Great » Sun May 27, 2012 8:07 pm

Ok everyone... I know that all of these hints are very vague... but there is a CHANCE that we may be seeing a new Lufia... These have been copied and pasted from Natsume's facebook page.

Hint #1: The announcement contains a "celebration"

I believe Lufia: Fortress of Doom's 20th anniversary could be the celebration.

Hint #2: The announcement will relate to a series...

Very vague... but hey, Lufia IS a series! =P

Hint #3: The announcement will relate to a series...in which there are at least 3 previous entries...

Well there are 3 previous entries... still very vague...

Hint #4: The announcement will relate to a series...in which there are at least 3 previous entries...that Natsume has published in North America

*raises eyebrows* You mean... Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals, Lufia: The Legend Returns and Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals???

Anyways, I will be updating with more hints as they are posted. Let's all hope that we may see a Lufia sequel sometime this year, or next to coincide with Lufia's 20th anniversary.

Hint #5: C____m_______ __ K___

Hint #6: C_s__m_z____n i_ Ki__

Hint #7: The series discussed in the announcement DOES NOT begin with the letter "L"

Hint #7 pretty much rules out Lufia as the series they're talking about.

The game is Harvest Moon : A New Beginning.

I think the last few hints threw off some possible series of the list =P Lufia, Legend of the Riverking (these two start with L), Medabots (starts with M) and any of their fishing related games. (no Reel Fishing)
So the most obvious titles would be Harvest Moon or Rune factory 4, but the latter one isn't even released in Japan yet.

Interestingly enough, I've seen at least three newsposts on gamesites saying that Lufia is not the new game Natsume was talking about. So that means there is still interest in new Lufia titles? I mean they could just write "New Natsume game does not start with the letter L" instead of specifically mentioning the Lufia name in the title of their posts.

I didn't really expect it to be Lufia because it would be a bit odd if Natsume was the first one that announces a new Lufia game. If there was an announcement like that, it would likely come from a Japanese source, and if it would be a continuation of Lufia DS it would most likely come from Square-Enix from Japan.

Though I wouldn't say it is completely impossible that a first announcement would come from Natsume, but I still think it's not very likely.

- Lufia Ruins Chaser as a GBC game was first announced by Natsume. (Lufia III was actually first announced on the Tokyo Game Show 1998, when it still was a PSX game and before Nihonflex went bankrupt)
- Lufia Beginning of a Legend was first mentioned by Natsume.
- Lufia the Legend Returns was first mentioned in English by Natsume.

Though there were mentions of a "Lufia III" going far as back as 1995, since the back of the box of Estpolis II mentions it's the second part of a trilogy. Also, I read at http://www.legendra.com/rpg/fiche-rpg_i ... lets_infos there supposedly is an advertisement for Estpolis III for Super Famicom in the Japanese guide book.

I don't have the guide myself, but I suspect this is the advertisent they're talking about: http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown-Den ... st3_1.html

We've got an E3 secret we just can't keep! T____x
More details to come later tonight!

-Natsume May 31st

Oh, I guess it has been 2 days since the last Harvest Moon was announced, so it is about time to announce another one!...

Or... are you actually going to redeem yourself Natsume?

:Update:

Here's a hint about the announcement tonight: It isn't about Harvest Moon: A New Beginning.

Natsume Inc., alongside TOYBOX and Rising Star Games, is pleased to announce Project Happiness (official title pending). Developed by Yasuhiro Wada, the father of Harvest Moon, at his TOYBOX Studio in Japan, Project Happiness will warm the hearts of gamers both young and old. Wada-san and Natsume will host behind-closed doors meetings to reveal the first details of Project Happiness at E3 in just 6 days!

Sounds like this "Project Happiness" is a 100% new game.
