100 Years!

Postby Chris » Fri Feb 27, 2004 7:49 pm

Correct me if I'm wrong... but aren't the Doom Island wars set 100 years apart? That isn't a really long time... how does everyone forget about such a short thing in 100 years? (hardly any of the characters know anything about the Doom Island Wars)

But wouldn't the next generation be kind of old? If you look at it, it seems more like 2 generations pass in Lufia's 100 years.

BTW Chris, if you look inside the Lufia III Instruction Manual, it tells the exact date of the events in the unreleased game, Lufia: Ruins Chasers (at least I think so).

I always thought that them forgetting the Doom Island wars was a bit farfetched. Especially for Randolph, he was 72 and didn't know about the sinistrals. That has to mean that the Doom Island war was forgotten in around 40 years. However, I suppose that since each war takes place on a different land (north, south, west) maybe they didn't know about it as much.

Complacency. They haven't grasped the concept that history tends to repeat itself over and over. Therefore they don't pass the tale down. They would rather forget about it, I guess.

I always thought that them forgetting the Doom Island wars was a bit farfetched.

So is the fact that the Sinistrals keep coming back. Or that the all people in the towns are so afraid of monsters even if the only monsters in that region are Red Jellies. How can the virtually entire world be that weak? Just a few more concepts in the handbook of video game cliches. :P

The people didnt exactly "forget" what happened. It had just been 100 years of peace and so naturally people wouldnt be paranoid and thinking about Sinistrals returning. When they do come back in FoD several referrences are made about the Sinistrals and the Doom Island battle.

Btw... I seem to have a picture in my mind that the FoD manual said something in the direction of.
99 years have passed since the battle for doom island
Instead of the 100 years everyone mentions

I think, the people just choose not to talk about it.
