New Game Studio Bidding for Lufia Rights

Postby News System » Thu Feb 07, 2008 10:07 pm

I've been in contact with the marketing director and lead designer of a brand new game studio that is set to break ground in the third quarter of 2008. He has informed me that they are currently trying to acquire the rights to develop a brand new Lufia game for a next-generation console. The studio already has some exciting plans for the next game and will be making them public if/when the rights are acquired.

In my opinion, this is exciting news whether or not they manage to acquire the rights. If they acquire them, we'll have the first console Lufia game since the original SNES ones to play! If they don't manage to acquire the rights, then it may indicate that Natsume/Neverland have plans of their own for the series.

Interesting, very interesting.

Well good luck to them, i might need to get a console just for the game if they're successful. and if the game is any good

So we'll never know the exciting plans if they don't get the rights?

This is probably the most exciting Lufia news since years for me. The fact that the developers already have certain ideas for the project sounds good, it seems that they are very motivated. Let's hope that there will be a new, good Lufia in the future.

LOL, that was my first idea after I read the news!
I hope that if they get the license, they'll make the game for the Wii, because of all next-gen consolses, the Wii is the most addictive for me (and the cheapest ;)) .

Well, I think that they will use their gameplay ideas for another game if they don't get the rights. [/quote]

If they are unsuccessful in their attempt to obtain the rights, then I will e-mail them and try and find out what they would've done! :)

Well, I never expected this after a good long while. It's been a while since the last Lufia game. And if this new game they plan to develop once they completely start up does come true, I hope that it'll feel like Lufia.

Have they decided on a name for the new game studio by any chance? I'm just curious because there are a couple new game studios and companies cropping up that I've been hearing about, and I want to know if it's one of the ones I'm thinking of.

i hope its not another mess up like the last Lufia for gba
Atlas failed to do anything with that game

its probably going to be for a hand held like ds or psp
probably ds cuz it appeals to a broader market

My contact did specifically say that the intention would be to bring it to a next-generation console rather than a handheld.

hmm interesting indeed....i really hope they fill in the missing pieces of lufia 1 and 2. I can't remember much of 3 so i don't know if it had any missing pieces and lufia 4 was just a flop and no one cares about it.
