The Anime Disscusion Topic:

Postby Lêi_Trigar » Sat Apr 25, 2009 2:46 am

here we talk about what kind of anime we all watch and like or even dislike...

i myself haven't been able to fallow anything to much cause i have to get up for work at 4am Sun.-Thur.

but the shows i've watched through the last 7 years have been:

InuYasha, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Witch Hunter Robin, Samurai Champloo, Fullmetal Alchemist, and a few others i can't seem to remember at the moment.

i haven't been able to watch a whole lot of the "new" stuff they show, just an episode here and there...

but feel free to post what you watch! maybe we can all talk about them.

One rule, NO FLAMING!!!

If you hate anime and decide to flame against it, then GTFO!

You can have opinions on which ones suck and which one's the best but please keep the flames down.

I haven't watched any anime for years, though I used to be a DBZ fan (particularly during the Freiza episodes).

This topic isn't about JRPG's, instead it is about anime.

I have a old anime, but only if and ONLY IF YOU ARE 18 YEARS OR OLDER.

Photon

Yep, that's what its called. It has everything from boobies, to violence, to comedy, to randomness, to even a complex story line all revealed in an hour long finale.

Its one of those rare anime's that isn't recognized very often. It was also one of my first ones (let alone I wasn't old enough at the time when it came out, so sue me).

Photon is very funny and looks silly, but is not for children. A lot of mature themes, generally crude jokes, raunchy situations in Photon. There is more serious violence and disturbing situations at the end than the silly situations would belie.

sounds like something that, were it to be translated, it would get the crap censored out of it.

Dragonball, Dragonball Z I just like for the nostalgia, even though the powering up in dbz gets on my nerves (I skip most of those episodes). I'm also enjoying Dragonball Kai, which is DBZ without the annoying filler, and with a few new scenes and a LOT of the poor quality frames removed and renewed.

Also watching Naruto and Naruto Shippuuden, though I'm getting somewhat annoyed with the abundance of ridiculous unsettled plots in Shippuuden. The music in regular Naruto is great though, I love the Naruto OST cd3. Put on "Beautiful Green Beast", "Sarutobi", or "Jiraya's theme" and you make me a happy man.

Also, old favorites of mine include Teknoman (season 1), Akira (the movie), Thundercats, Transformers (in particular the movie, minus the singing), Kirby right back at ya (japanese version though, the english dub sucks).

There's probably more that I forgot, but these are the ones that stick out most.

Holy cow! I'm not the only one who saw Photon. I saw it almost a decade ago fully translated in English. It's anything BUT censored and cut the crap out of.

Some anime's are good, without 4kids help at least.

I'm not a big anime fan myself, but my ex got me to watch Elfenlied- and I haven't regretted it. The music alone is brilliant:

I am currently watching Dragonball Kai though, for nostalgic reasons- all of the action, none of the filler... fun to watch :)
