Team Communication

Postby PsiCop » Mon May 09, 2005 2:10 am

The team is starting to take shape and a few things should be done a little differently. For example, we need to start communicating as one group, rather than in one-on-one conversations on AIM. Those individual conversations can be ok, but if that's all that's going down, then there will be some communication problems. Therefore, I recommend using this forum or AIM chat rooms for group discussion. If we all know what's new, then none of us feel left out or out of the loop.

So guys (and gals  ), let's try and be more group oriented as the team is starting to take shape.

Ehm... What are AIM Chatrooms? (I don't have AIM for a long time, so I don't know)

I know we've talked on AIM a couple of times. It's simple. One person selects to create a chatroom, and then invites other people to it. Then its basically just like IM, except with more than 2 people.

Hmm, is it possible you could get it? You can download it on AOL.com I think. It's the most commonly used instant messenger, so I think it'd be the best.

I think aim.com is a more direct URL.

What about IRC? IRC is much more potent for group meetings. How many people here use it though?

IRC may be relevant too, but it's a bit more advanced and there aren't a whole lot of free and stable clients out there.

well all the people that r in the credits should be smart enough to use IRC. thats the only solution we have toward this problem of communicating together.

I wouldn't call it the only solution. I think we just need to find the best solution. By which, asking which has the most users already, and has chat capability. That way, it's best if only 1 team member must install a new program, rather than a few people having to get new software.

Aside from 1 or 2 users here, almost all of us have AIM. Therefore, I think it'd be the logical choice.

The only problem would be that I've found AIM's chat function to be fairly unreliable as of recent. I'm not sure if any of you guys are facing the same issues though.

It is a shame that more people doesn't use Trillian.

http://www.trillian.cc

It's a free messenger that lets you connect and talk to people on the following services: AIM, YAHOO, ICQ, MSN, IRC

And you can manage them all in one buddylist. Once you use Trillian, you never go back

I used it. I don't like it... it's a bit too integrated for me. :P
