Post your roleplaying ideas here

Postby NeoGades » Wed May 11, 2005 7:31 pm

Here is just some ideas I thought would make multiplayer more interesting. You probably won't see these in the first release but these could be added later on.

How would you guys like to have different roleplaying jobs.
Such as King, Queen, Knight, Shop owner, Innkeeper, Casino manager.

And what would you think if each player could belong to a kingdom, and each kingdom contains a treasury. Based on how much gold they have, they can maintain a certain amount of maps / places. This would also add advanced diplomatic features for players.

For example: A rich kingdom could have a casino, arena, several types of shops. A poor kingdom would just have a few shops.

Please post any ideas you have about roleplaying here.

Hmm...I have an idea. Like how most MMO's have different servers, have different towns, etc. in the game. People go to the town they want.

As time progresses, they can have their town grow, and elect kings, etc. from the group of people.

Might be somewhat hard to code, but would be VERY cool.

(this could be done via updates to the game)

It'll be quite easy. All we would have to do is give each town a treasury, and then based on the networth of the town, the map builders could add additional buildings (which would subtract from their treasury though).

Like a castle might cost 2mil gold, a weapon shop... 250,000.

The town could grow based on how much gold is invested into it. So you'd want to try and recruit a very wealthy player if you were the queen of your own kingdom.

That would certainly be cool, but would require a reasonably large fanbase to really be effective. At least 100 active players. We'll have to see how many people join up to play once we release it. I'd say to decide from there.

Or we could have many NPCs. Just an idea, a payer could create another character, an NPC that they have limited control over. A little like capsule/disk monsters. The NPC would make X gold a day, and the player could make the NPC move to other cities and such. No idea if that idea is good or bad though.

Hmm, well we're already planning to include capsule monsters. We also plan to have NPCs join your party for certain quests, or possibly in the long-term.

Yeah, kinda like that. Then the more people who joined the quest the more NPCs there'd be. Or would you not be able to do that quest if that NPC was gone?

Well, a party can consist of 1-4 people. No more. They can be players, or NPCs. If there's extra NPCs, or only room for 1 in the party, then we'll probably add an option to let them sit out the battles, and choose which one you want fighting with the party.

Would it be possible to include an IP system in the game? If you did would it be more like Lufia II or Lufia the Legend Returns?

How about fights in the air and fights with 3 or 4 teams?

That gives me an idea. Maybe have a special dungeon where you have the teams join together to fight a group of bosses/monsters?

Well if the battle system is turn base and someone leaves to get something wouldn't everyone else have to wait? Then again I'm sure they could program something to prevent that.
