Yes, I'm gonna get hit hard. I may or may not evacuate, but I might not be able to sign on for weeks. There are expected long-term power outages as well as hard winds and flooding. I'm in northeast Houston, so I'm not getting the worst of it. I won't get any storm surge. Galveston (a coastal community) is expected to suffer the same fate as New Orleans.

I may lose or damage all or some of my possessions. Hopefully, the damage will only be minimal. The worst of it will happen Friday night. I'll most likely be holed up in a bathroom all night. I'm sure I'll be safe, but I'm not so sure about all of my possessions. I'm hopeful that it'll turn out ok, but I doubt it. I'll post again when I'm able to. It may be in a few days, it may be in a good while. Thanks for your thoughts Maxim and everyone else. In the words of The Terminator... "I'll be back."

Actually, the storm is about to hit tonight. Much to my pleasant surprise, it has weakened and changed its course. We may only suffer minimal damage. I'm happy that it's not going to be as bad as they first projected. For a while it was the third largest hurricane ever recorded in the Gulf Coast. It has since weakened. I'm sure I'll be alright.

We got very lucky. Almost everything that could go right, did. I had no damage whatsoever.

In the end, about 2/3 of the city evacuated. Keep in mind that Houston is the 4th biggest city in the US, with over 4 million people. So about 2.5 million people were cluttering about 4 highways outta here at one time. Just consider it for a moment. It was huge.

Now they're all coming back, but it's not all at the exact same time.
