Alright, here's how the project is going to proceed:

As I said earlier, the story and events that will take place are based off those written in my fanfic. The dialogue, script, and settings will be my charge.

However, the design of the dungeons, towns, and other locations is up to those who want to help as well as all of the gameplay.

In order to both help create and play the game you require RPG Maker XP which can be found here:

http://www.crankeye.com/index.php?page=downloads

The material included with the Maker is more than adequate to create a fully functional RPG but custom sprites would be greatly appreciated in the size and dimensions of the ones that came with the program.

Here's the first scene from the game:
http://rapidshare.de/files/25497220/Cop ... 1.rar.html

When you're finished downloading, extract the folder and if you have the program installed, double click the orange gear/cog entitled "Game."

There's also another icon called "Game" but its of two windows in front of paper. Don't click that unless you want to see how it all came together and then some.

So, with that being said... Who wants to help?

Sorry if I didn't include enough information here. If you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll answer as best as I can.

Oh heck yes sign me up!

On another forum, I took a look into my future and what I wanted to do as far as "deisning video games" went... I was going more on a programming route, but they helped me to see the light of level-design. (Alas, if only I could map the insane mario-esque levels from my dreams...) This would be the PERFECT opportunity to do that, not to mention that it combines my love for Lufia.

I tried to make some RM2K stuff a few years ago, but in the end all that happened was I wanted to create maps, lol... I'd love to design a dungeon or two, maybe a town... For Lufia, I can *make* room in my schedule...

Glad to have you aboard. Some of the people that I need the most are level designers.

Ok!

I contacted you earlier with this idea. Nice to see you've actually started to pull it of! :)

I'm still pretty busy with my study and other fan projects I'm working on like "Epic Racers - Impala Kart Courses" (Mario Kart Hack), "Ancient Tales - Prophecy Of Sadness (RPG) and Dutch translations of "Faxanadu" and "Zelda - A Link To The Past" but I would glady design some towns for this great project, so you can put me on the list and contact me if you've got some work for me to do. :)

To show some of my experience take a look at my projects on my website. http://www.okimpala.com

I've not used RPG Maker XP before, but I will have a fiddle with it after my upcoming holiday. Perhaps after then I can donate a dungeon or something! ;)

http://www.phylomortis.com/html/rgss.html

This site kicks a** as far as RPGMXP's RGSS system goes.

http://www.phylomortis.com/resource/script/scr032.html

For instance, if you know how to code in RGSS, that could be used to show the length of an IP bar, for example.

http://www.phylomortis.com/resource/script/scr041.html

And that one can be used for dungeons and such...I could see that being used for a Doom Island / tower kinda area.

http://www.phylomortis.com/resource/script/scr029.html

HP Absorb spells, ala some spells in Lufia II.

http://www.phylomortis.com/resource/script/scr011.html

More of a tidyness script than anything.

---------------------------------------------

It also has the complete list of all of the normal scripts, in case your translation dosen't have them translated fully, or if you need to know what the code operators do.

If I happen to find any good images (backdrops and stuff), I'll post it in this forum.

Sorry to make a double post, but every time I run the program to play the game, I get a "Can't find BGM 38" error.

Shouldn't the Audio (and maybe Graphics) file be included in the .rar file?

Oddly enough it shouldn't matter to you, Lexi, cause you already have the RTP files. o.o

I get the same error, though.

Also, I might be able to help with programming, and maybe BGM.

Ok!

A tutorial on Lufia fight system in RPG Maker:
http://www.gamingw.net/tutorials/902

The only good looking Lufia Fan Demo I found on the internet. Nice example of what can be done with RPG Maker. I like the way he created a new hero by combining Dekar and Maxim...:

Just put some random music files there and call them "38 track 38" "yasunori shiono - lufia I - 16 - lufia I fortress of doom A" and "39 track 39" the game should be playing now (but with the wrong music)
When you leave the house, and go back into the house, you get the scene of Roland sleeping again...

Uh... is there anything I can do?

Hm... I don't know what I might be able to do... perhaps make some sprites... Other than script or plot making, I'm not very able at the other possibilities. It won't be yet though, because I'll be gone for the next three weeks.

Whoops. I forgot to do Ephras and then some. After leaving Roland's house, you're not supposed to be able to return until after saving Tara in the fields.

As for what you can do: I'm still planning who does what in the project. I'll get back to that as soon as I figure it out.

Oh, can there be a labyrinthine-dungeon? I've always wanted to do one... I've been watching my friends play Morrowind when I'm over for D&D nights, and those places seem pretty labyrintine - just a bunch of circuits, interconnecting passages, and dead ends. Oooh, it could the verson of Ancient Cave! <.<

And while I haven't had much experience in the field of level design, here is a little sample:

Image

Yeah, that was a pokemon-made map. The map ended up being a LOT larger than planned, and Photobucket, the host, had to resize it it was so big... Oh, did I meation that this was made with MS PAINT?! Yeah. No chipsets for RM2k existed for Ruby/Sapphire, and I didn't know how to make one, so... yeah. :D

The sooner this starts the better, because one school starts I'll have less time to work on this... BTW where can I find this fan fiction, so I know what's going on as far as the story goes? That'd be a great help. :)

What a coincidence, I just started working With RPG maker XP myself. A friend gave me the Postality Knights edition, but I am able to play and work with the sample you gave. I'm willing to help in any way I can.
