Tia's descendant? Interesting.... Hopefully she doesn't have as sad an ending as Tia.
.....and I have the power to confront that swell?

Is this 'free' version that is talked about legal? If not... *Points to PM button*. I'm willing to check it out a bit more, see if I could hope to code some interesting things in there :D

From what I've read, no vendors sell an English version of RPG Maker 2k and 2k3. That's because some guy translated it from Japanese and made it available to everyone for free. As far as I know, the company that originally created the program never retaliated against him or any of the people that use it. Five years ago, websites were weary about hosting the program for download, but now people have relaxed a bit.

As far as the legality of any games created with RPG Maker 2k(3), they're completely legal as long as they aren't used for monetary gain. Our game is free, so everything is kosher. ;)

Alrighty, looks like I'm doing a "skill" system for the game. It'll take me 50x longer to do it than if I could just use good ol' C/C++, but oh well.

Just to avoid ripping from Lufia 2 completely, I'm stealing all their skills, and adding one new one, the Force Bomb! You lay it just like its companion classical bomb, but instead of destroying nearby things at the end of its timer, it pushes them away! Sure, it's not as flashy as blowing stuff up, but I think it'll add some puzzle solving possibilities.
Working on event programming for use of Lufia 2 style skills for dunegon interaction/problem solving.

This'll turn out awesome, I can just see it...

I'd like to help out, too! I'm pathetic with sprites
and stuff, but I can find and compose music if needed.
If you've already got all the music, I can do Sound Effects as well.

So pretty much, I can do soundtracks.

One question:
Is there going to be a 5th land, or is it going to be one made previously?

I can't say what the world will be like, but i think it's going to be a new one. I also can't say about whether u can help or not. I'm just assisting in some ways. However, if you want to help, send a PM to Dekar, he is the project leader.

New Land

Postby Dekar The Great » Tue Aug 28, 2007 7:11 am

Lufia 5 is going to take place in Eastland. But will also have us visiting old places from the other lands, and Midland. Neither of these places were in the old games, but were mentioned. If you would like to help with the game, please message me or you can almost always contact me by my MSN. Thanks ^_^.

OK. Took a while, but finally, here is it:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=R39XKR0D

Village and world map chipsets. I know, the sea is kinda crappy, but i didn't know how to make it look better xd Besides, the village chipset is reaaally uncomplete (and i'm quite sure i stole some things from other resources, but i don't remember xD).
With great power comes great responsibility

Wow. I've been gone and a lot of you have been busy.

Is this game going to be about the same length as previous games, shorter or longer?

If it's going as good as it looks it should be very promising.
