(RP) Lufia United: All for One

Postby Volt » Thu Feb 26, 2009 10:26 pm

(brief introduction, this will contain spoilers so don't get mad if you dont know how Lufia, Lufia 2, or Lufia: the Legend returns ended. I did have to take some liberties here and there though, so bear with me)

It has been 100 years now since the Sinistrals were defeated in Southland, and Dual Blade has sung no more ever since Maxim took it up as the first human, 300 years ago. However, as history has shown time and time again, the Sinistrals eventually regenerated. This time, mankind was prepared... or at least thought it was.

Erim, who wished nothing more but to live in peace, had witnessed the death of all her loved ones in her past lives; she saw maxim, the person who had shown her the way, die in a final effort to save his town, his world, and his son. She had seen Hero, Maxim's descendant, live and die. And she lived happily with Wain, another descendant of Maxim, for many years. However, unlike Maxim and Hero, Wain did not have descendants to continue his bloodline. When he died, the blood of Maxim was no more.

Though she was no longer the true Sinistral of Death, Erim still held enough power to achieve certain goals. She knew that the true essence of a Sinistral is energy that never dissipates, and by now she realised the estimated time of full regeneration would be between 95 and 100 years. Before Wain's death, they had researched all they could of the Three Doom Island Wars. They figured out that human emotions, while unbalanced, could prove to be strong enough to counter the horrifying strengths of the Sinistrals, under the conditions that the human (or sentient being for that matter) had pure intentions. Dual Blade merely awarded itself to the being with the most pure energy patterns (be it negative or positive energy). So to prepare for the imminent return of the Sinistrals of Destruction, Chaos, and Terror, Erim and Wain (not long before his demise) started several secret dojos around the world to train people and prepare them for a possible new Doom Island War.

However... Erim had not accounted for a newly chosen Sinistral of Death, named Nex, who was more cruel than any of the other Sinistrals ever were. Doom Island had risen again, and within a single year, most of the Dojo's were destroyed, along with a large portion of the big cities, and Erim was captured. What Daos was unaware of however, was that Erim had made sure that most Dojos had a location to fall back on, should the unthinkable happen. In secret, warriors were still being trained to take down the Sinistrals, and prevent the world from falling into darkness

Now, with the world in the hands of the Sinistrals Gades, Amon, Nex, and Daos, and Erim held captive, all hope was lost..... or was it?

Thats the introduction for this RP that I hope will get off the ground here. The rules are very simple;

#1 - this is a story RP... no fighting other characters.
#2 - no Godmodding. In other words, dont write down the actions of other characters. In general people don't like that.
#3 - All OOC comments should be posted in this thread.
#4 - No multiposting unless you exceeded the text limit (which I doubt will happen but still needs to be said)
#5 - No ultimate megapowers that allow you to blow up mountains and crap.
#6 - You are not a sinistral in disguise.
#7 - you can not be a bar steward great-great-great-grandson/daughter of maxim nobody knew about. His bloodline ended. Period.
#8 - your character is allowed to come from any town of any island mentioned in Lufia 1,2,3 (I have no clue about the RoL towns but I suppose they are allowed too?)

On rare, RARE occassion I might throw in an important part of the story to give it some direction. So in a D&D way I will act as a Dungeon master. Though I will try not to. Also, before we actually begin the RP itself, I need to know if people prefer to travel through new, unexplored lands, or if they prefer traveling through West-,South-, or Northland.

Now, please fill in this form;

Name:
Age:
Gender:
Heritage: (human, elf)
Weapon of Preference:
Physical traits:
Hometown:
Trained in Dojo: Yes/No (being trained in a dojo is only for story purposes, this doesn't give you an advantage in any way)
background story:

I will fill that in myself once I have some more time.

Hmm... Too many rules but it works nonetheless.

Will it fail? Most likely but I am in, give me a time to make a character.

Also Ruins of Lore is Lufia II's land.

Question, what would you think about adding Estoland?

the rules are merely stating the obvious... I just dont like people suddenly doing stuff I'd rather not see.

And will it fail? An RP only fails if people dont enjoy it. To be honest I have never seen an rp being finished before in my life, and I just want to see this getting as far as it can get.

As for that map... it looks weird. the Ancient cave being the size of a country? And isn't Forfeit island that crescent shaped island with the Casino on it in Lufia 2?

I am renaming the AC region Antiquity. In reality though, Ancient Cave is as big as the planet. The map is still in progress though.

Well, I know you have a general plot line for back story still I wouldn't mind knowing the age of the world.

Born element? Meaning you can only have one type of elemental? I thought the four Spiritual Force colors were complicated enough.

Perhaps the affinities are more like Fire Emblem where your elemental is decided on what month you are born.

It's more of an affinity for spells and such. Though I decided not to use it for this RP... its rp, not D&D ¬__¬;... (I have a habit of adding in weird stuff).

Age of the world? Well this story takes place 100 years after TLR.

[edit] time to fill in the form.

Name: Lupe
Age: 20-ish
Gender: Male
Heritage: Human
Weapon of preference: Dual Swords (I mean these nifty swords I found online: http://starwarsrpg.pettycomp.net/Images ... eSword.jpg)
Physical traits: Very tall (around 6'2), average body posture. Black hair with blue streaks through it.
Hometown: Parcelyte
Trained in Dojo: Yes
background story:

After three doom island wars, people realised that forgetting about the Sinistrals wasn't exactly a smart thing to do. When Lupe was born, he would often be found in the nearby forests, pretending to be a swordsman, fighting off the Sinistrals. The minute he heard that a descendant of the great Maxim would open a dojo in parcelyte, to train warriors in fighting the Sinistrals, he immediatly signed up at the age of 10. Slowly however, he realised this wasn't just a game, and over the years he became a very devoted swordsman, and he would often look upon the statue in the castle square: the statue of Maxim wielding Dual Blade and Selan standing next to him.

One day, Lupe was out hunting when he felt a terrible feeling inside his heart. He hastefully returned back to parcelyte, only to find it under attack by Doom Island. Within minutes, all of Lupe's relatives and his friends were annihilated, and the castle and village were left in shambles.

Standing in front of Maxim's statue, he kneeled down and swore an unbreakable oath; he would help destroy the Sinistrals, or die trying.

Hmm... I know the old back story. What Lufia fan doesn't. What I am curious about is the age of the world you're making.

Lets face it, I am absolutely positive that after the era of TLR the world's civilizations have evolved somewhat. I understand Lufia will always be a medieval world of sword and magic to heart. I understand how the thought of electricity, the gun, and vehicles alienate the world. As long as anyone doesn't abuse those priviledges like "I pull out an AK-47 and shoot everything! If that doesn't kill them I pull out a f*cking mini nuke..." NO! That's just abusing tech with a plain superiority complex.

In a way, there could be a hint of technology and new ideas. This also means there may be a sacrifice of old ones. There will still be the noble knight dawning his silvery plate mail however, others will frown upon him for chivalry has died years ago. Again it is all up to you. After all you're the one who is defining the world aren't you?

Also, I enjoy a bit of reality in the RP. Yes, yes Lufia is a fantastic world of wonder and mystery however there is still gravity, the nagging house wife, greed, and idiots who are wrong but still say they're right and everyone believes them.

Last note: I WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY FINAL FANTASY 7 STYLE BS!!! FF7 is not the best RPG in the world. It's just overhyped and no one cares here.

Im just going to assume no big changes occured. I mean, TLR is set 200 years after the first doom island war, and they still have the same crap as they did back then. Though I do get what you're trying to say. I think things such as blimps, submarines and all did become a regular thing of society, until Daos decided he wanted to be the only one being able to fly around and started shooting down everything flying near doom island :P.

also... the FF comment goes without saying.

Well, yeah. But running water, electric lamps, and maybe a record player. Nothing big.

Well, do you have any details where characters are going to meet up? I usually don't fill in a character until the RP has started so forgive my tardiness.

We'd need to do that later. First I'd like people actually signing up.... and we havent decided on where this story will take place. My own character is from Parcelyte, where maxim and selan lived, which gives me a pretty good link to the past history and such. I think our chars should meet up in a town that is heavily linked to any of the Doom Island wars... maybe we should meet up in Eserikto or another Elven city. I think those cities are pretty wellhidden and they do contain a lot of information regarding the past doom island wars. I'm not sure if Artea was still alive in TLR, but milka at the very least should be around right? Once people sign up I'll think of a way to have everyone meet up there.

As for technology, A magical radio I think would be well. but TV and such, no. I'll go as far as to allow electricity and such, but no TV. For some reason I think if I'd imagine Daos being on TV I'd just laugh... I mean, an evil god being on TV, I just can't imagine that XD.

(narrator) And now, here to bring you a fresh amount of daily Terror; DAOS!
Daos: Thanks Tom! Boy it's a lovely day to inspire some death, destruction, chaos, and terror. Again!
(Narrator) Love that Daos, and now here's Idura with the weatherforecast..

Well lets see.... Artea is an adult during the time of maxim. Milka is a child.

Doom war 2. Artea is still an adult, milka is mentioned but doesnt do anything.

Doom war 3. Artea is mentioned, Milka is now either a teenager or an adult.

being a kid is from 6 to 15 more or less. 9 human years (okay, lets make it 10 to make it easy).

Milka goes from child to teenager/young adult in 200 years (whoa...200 years of having a bedtime, thats gotta suck :P). If we assume that it takes 20 human years to have an elf age by 1 year. So if we do it 300: 20 = 15 years older. We can assume Artea, while blind, is still alive, and so is Milka.

its decided! Artea and Milka are still alive, hidden in one of the Elven towns!

I have the story in mind for when to gather, where, and how. So by all means, sign up the form, and I'll start the RP when we have at least 3-4 people :)

Congrats for stating the obvious. Actually in DnD 3rd edition Elves do not become adults until they're 212 years old.

And you never played DnD? What a paradox! I'd like to sign up. But with this character I would like to enter a bit later. Infact why not go ahead and start an initiation post? That's how usually RP's start anyways.
