Final Fantasy XIII

Postby DarkMaster2101 » Wed Apr 22, 2009 4:29 am

I know, I know. No one on LW likes Final Fantasy anymore because its overrated blah blah blah.

I'm interested in FF13 "new tale of the crystal." I'm not a FF fan boy, but I am a fan and you have to give Square their credit. (I mean SquareEnix. My, my, where have the years gone?)

Sooner or later I'm going to bump this with FFxii trailers and content. I wonder when they're going to cast for English VO's?

I like it! I just have a habit of getting to the final bosses and then never getting round to defeating them. ;)

Hopefully FF can make a comeback with XIII.

I've seen some direct feed gameplay. It looks pretty sweet with combo attacks and everything.

Though I kind of liked the simpler FF tales, like the ones from FF3, 4, and 6 and stuff.

In Final Fantasy XIII, players will embark on a journey through the cityworld of Cocoon and the outerworld of Pulse, encountering and fighting alongside a diverse group of allies. Execute powerful attacks with weapons and magic, and summon the enigmatic Eidolons with an evolved Active Time Battle system. Experience seamless transitions between real-time gameplay and in-game cinematics. Do you have the courage to face your destiny?

there is a fake trailer where someone mentions a remake of FF8, while using FF13 fmvs. The sad part is that they do look alike on several areas...

Also, I dont play any nextgen stuff anyway. Squaresoft/square-enix can go f*ck itself after what they did with the kingdom hearts series.

I thought KH was going in the right direction?

*looks through internets, only to find gay porn of Riku and Sora*

Oh... That's why.

The release KH1, which was pretty fun. Then they release Chain of Hearts for another console. I think "Oh no matter, thats okay. Spinoffs dont matter". Then I play KH2 and I just get a huge sexual intercourse of weird things going on, and after reading about 2 on the internet, I find out that "Kingdom Hearts 2" is actually "Kingdom Hearts 3" since Chain of Hearts took place right after KH1. I call bullsh*t on that one.

And now you get 3-4 more KH series released, each one on a different platform. Basically square just whored out KH like it was the goddamn pokémon franchise. Screw them.

I'm only going to do more research on the one on the DS. I think that game is only for story and not gameplay. Multi-player looks interesting.

As for Birth by Sleep for PSP. Gameplay alone looks interesting enough. Will we see a US release of it? Only if fanboys stop having imaginary gay secks with Roxas.

KH coded. Cell Phone game, don't care. Those have a habit of staying in Japan only. (I wouldn't mind pirating a fan-translation of Estpolis Biography DX for the hell of it.)

Storyline aside. If the gameplay is superior to story, then its probably worth it. Then again marketing the full story on multi-platform can make and break a game. *cogh*Sonic*wheeze*Unleashed*haaaack*

Nah... This is a new style of whoring. Pokemon is the same thing over and over again so you can stop whenever you want to. This is something that you HAVE to play every game before you know the story.

which basically makes it worse. I own a PS2, and a PC. I do not own a DS, a GBA, an Xbox, a Gamecube, etc etc etc. And I dont want/need to own them. I think it's just f*cked up how one big story is divided over several games on several platforms. Because that's what happened. And that's just messed up. When I buy game #1, and then game #2, which should be a direct sequal, I dont want to play it only to find out that somewhere in between there was a game #1,5 brought out on another console, which had enough story in it to force me to read about it somewhere to find out just what the hell happened to all the characters.

I start playing Kh2, and I find Sora being "asleep" for a year. What the f*ck?

Hello Friends.
I would like to start playing final fantasy but I would like to know if I would miss anything in the storyline if I didn't start from the first final fantasy. The seventh one looks awesome so I would like to know some suggestions or advice from those who actually have played all of the them or majority or even if you started from the more recent final fantasies.
Thanks!

Actually, you miss nothing because unlike most sequels Final Fantasy doesn't have continuity between roman numerals.

If you want the classic, its the first Final Fantasy (on virtual console for 500 Wii points). If you want gameplay at its best, start with Final Fantasy VI (or III if you're in the US). If you want an over hyped game with "state of the art" CG-i graphics and killer soundtrack, then its Final Fantasy VII (sarcasm). If you want an anachronism of all of the common ideas that represent the series, then its Final Fantasy IX. Want to kill yourself, Final Fantasy VIII or X & X-2. If you want a desperate time killer for $12 USD a month, Final Fantasi XI is just for you.

If you manage to get Final Fantasy XI, I am Ukyenki the Tarutaru Blue Mage on the server Cait Sith.

I've tried FFVII, never really got into it though... is it really as overyped as you say, or will it become genuinely good later on?

FF7 is a pretty good rpg. I think it's fairly good, with a decent story. However, it's not the greatest rpg of all time (statements like that have made people hate the game. I know it killed chrono trigger for me).

FF8 was pretty fun too, but sadly the game lacks both character development as well as proper story (which makes it a very flat, unemotional game). FF9 was pretty fun and interesting, but the final boss made me want to throw my PSX out the window due to its stupidity.

FFX was decent, if you can stomach the main character its a pretty solid rpg. FFX-2 was pure crap. FF12 is pretty odd and extremely remniscient of Vagrant Story, has no real main character (Say Vaan and I will stab you through your screen). But the story is very interesting I think.

But seriously, go play lufia.
