Yeah a group discussion would be great. Plus I just had an amazing idea. Voice acting! That would be the bees knees. It would add so much more feeling to the game. What do you guys think?

Voice Acting (or VO's) great minds think for themselves I suppose.

It all depends on if we have the memory for it. That and we have to do a talent search which isn't as easy as one thinks.

I have a good eye and ear for these things, so I'll help out.

My voice is rather dark, but friendly (or so I've been told numerous times), with a vague accent. Give me a call if you plan on implementing this, I think it would be fun to try, but do realise it gets rather big rather fast :)

Yea I understand that. It was just a thought. Maybe once the game gets completed we can try and add it in.

I know I shouldn't even reference the disgrace of Lufia: Ruins of Lore. I do like how the turn based system from Lufia I returned; it did add to what little strategy RoL had. I also liked the idea that some actions after you input the command take longer to execute than some others. It adds a bit more thinking on which attack to use because of delays.

This can't be enforced in RMXP easily though, and also you may have to make a HUD for actions/turns while doing so and that takes up more variables than what its suppose to.

It isn't something you should use, but it is something to consider.

Voice acting for sprites would be a new concept to me

If you really wanted a team behind a new fan game idea ...it may be best for everybody to list what they have skills in
give me a moment so i can think up a good idea

An idea to keeps things managable is to do it like this:

Only make a handfull of short phrases for every character, and play the one that fits with the text you play. Banjo and Kazooie took this a bit further, and looped 'voicebites' over and over again while a character was talking. Though this more added to the comedic factor than anything else, hehe:

Also, I can't remember if RMXP can still use movies files or not.

Also, the Banjo-Kazooie idea would be best for the traditional Lufia text bleeps.

Hi hi,

didn't notice this topic till now. I really like the idea of creating a Fan-game, and I'm willing to help in any way. Have you decided on something already?

I haven't got an awful lot of experience with things like this, though I did have my share of storydesign. And can probably help out on the voice acting too.

Been some time since the last reply to the topic, so I hope it's still being read.

Thanks in advance.

Tim.

Don't worry Joppie, I still check this forum, I'm always looking for new ideas. Just post up what you've got and I'll check it out. Right now I'm working on a script for the intro to the game. So feel free to contribute.

Saw this posted on the front page and wanted you guys to know I would be willing to help. I am currently working on another indy game with a team as project leader, but am definitely willing to give my coding skills services over to you guys. Let me know if you need anything.

I've sold a game we made with a few guys once- if you really want to, there's ample opportunity. Just start small. And of course, in my opinion- I do not expect to get paid for the project I am working on, but I'd call myself an independant devellopper. Probably a matter of wording, hehe.

I'd say go for it mate!

Been away for ages. Some might remember me, but since I've only seen new names I doubt it.

Was wondering how this fanbased RPG is going! So in a way this is a small bump ;p.
