Did you ever play Final Fantasy 1 for the NES?

That was a HARD game, especially compared to today's Final Fantasies.

I've played all GBA Ports of FF, FF Tactics Advance and a bit FF VIII.
I enjoyed FF VI the most, story and gameplay are well balanced for a FF game.
But to be honest, I think that FF is hyped. This series is clearly above average, but there are more than enough other games outshining FF, like the Lufia-series, the Seiken Densetsu-series or Terranigma.

In my opinion, the reason why FF got so big is because FFVII was really the first rpg in 3d (at least the first one i heard of in 3d). That said some of the games are interesting but the only ones i'm really interested in are well...pretty much FFV. Tactics was ok but not particularly good and in my opinion if you want a tactics type of game Fire Emblem is one of the best.

FFx was ok. I played it for a short time and it had an interesting skills section. I still think FFV was my favourite FF though

In a 2008 public poll held by The Game Group plc, Final Fantasy was voted the best game series, with five titles appearing in their "Greatest Games of All But I agree with you. I mean Final Fantasy VII is the best one in Playstation series. And FF7 is the fisrt game I played in Playstation.

Final fantasy 7 was a very enjoyable game. But why people consider it the greatest rpg ever is really beyond me. It holds the most plotholes/errors of ALL FF games. If it didn't have the incredible soundtrack, it would simply be an average rpg.

Lets see.... FF6 I thought was brown stuff.
FF7 was an okay rpg.
FF8 I liked a lot, despite the ridiculous low challenge it gave
FF9 was fun until you reach the final boss. When that happens you're very likely saying "Wait, what? Where the F*CK did you come from? Final Boss you say? WHAT?! WHO THE F*CK ARE YOU????". So yeah... not a big fan of that one.
FFX was pretty cool, except well.... Tidus... laughing scene... urge to kill rising...
FFX-2, I pretend it doesn't exist. It's possibly the most godawful excuse of a game I ever played.
FFXII... Currently playing it. I like it a LOT because of how much it looks like Vagrant Story, and because the battles are very fast. A very good battle system, but sadly the music and themes are subpar. I also have a feeling that, without the sidequests/markhunting, the game itself is very, very short.

I'm enjoying FFXI. But I'm learning the hard way that all subscription MMOs were designed to waste your time.

heh, so I've been told. I had a few friends who played WoW extensively but finally quit after realising how much time they invested in it, and how, even after almost a year of playing, in the end they were still doing the same crap quests as they did before. Just on a higher level.

At least FFXI has a bit more detail than WoW. Of course I'm only playing it casually for now.

At least until I get Blue Mage. *maniacle laughter*

There is the great list of the best Fantasy games which are best in their own way. All the Fantasy games gave up a great amount of the excitement. All of them are fantastic with the hits. The Final fantasy series has a sequel, movies and many more things.

Don't forget to include FF spin-offs too.

I enjoyed Final Fantasy Adventure (or Seiken Dentetsu: Final Fantasy Gaiden) on the Gameboy. It was a poor man's Zelda but I don't care. Now it's been remade into Sword of Mana for the GBA.

How did the Mana Series exploded from a single Final Fantasy themed Zelda-clone to such a robust franchise with bizarre artwork and non-crystal stories today? Or was at least (when it was still good).

FF6 and 4 were pretty amazing I think. Not sure if it gets much better than 6 though, I don't think any villain can hold a candle to Kefka.

And how about Final Fantasy Mystic Quest? It wasn't like all the other final fantasies, but i loved every part of this game.

Tactics also had a fun story. I really loved the characters in this one.
