This game is vulnerable to bad English voice acting. The dialogue isn't bad grammar wise, just meh so far.

Loving the hi-res, hi-qual logo! And yeah, I agree with DarkMaster--aside from "Idura/Idula," which I'm hoping was fixed by now, the text seems to just be English text, and that's all. Not good or bad.

One thing is that they're using some rather...odd words in sentences, or at least Tia's.

"Trying to balance running a store and going out on journeys was a lot harder than I thought."

"We've defeated Idura. Congratulations."

Li'l bit stilted in your words, Tia.

I'm just excited that I'll eventually be able to play the game in English. Granted, I'd like a bit better dialog, but I'll take what I can get.

Guess we can't say anything about the voice acting or the dialogue until it's out, eh? ;)

Same here. Even if the game has great VO's, a bad script can ruin the experience.

I can't speak for the dialogue, but I thought the game was pretty enjoyable. You'll have to accept it's not EXACTLY the same Lufia II you used to play, but there would be no point if it was, right? ;)
It's a different way of looking at the same story and scenery, I think that's how you should see it.
DM, you seem to have already decided the game's going to blow. In that case, you shouldn't play it. It can't be exactly the same game you remember. Look at it a bit neutrally, and you'll enjoy it. :)

From what I see, most of the people who complain about Lufia DS are people who haven't actually played the game. ( mostly stuff like "This doesn't look like Lufia! Oh no they changed the battlesystem! What did they do to the character designs?! Lufia shouldn't be an action rpg!")
And then there are some people who did play the game but didn't like it because they wanted it to be 100% like Lufia II.

IMO Lufia DS is a bit different but still has the Lufia feeling and I think it's better than TLR, FoD and RoL.

I said nothing about saying the game is going to blow. I'm saying that a bad translation could break this game's review. RPG's rely heavily on the script just as much as the battle system.

I know the battle system won't blow me away from looks alone. I have to play the game before I reach a verdict.

Those people don't come to LWF anymore. So hurray for ignoring trolls.

Then you should never okay Suikoden 2. I find it to be a very entertaining rpg, but the bad translation and errors in the script make Final Fantasy 7 look like the best spelled rpg in history.

The graphics obviously had to change but apart from that i would prefer everything to stay the same.
maybe its better than the original, they may have improved it theres only one way to find out.

It is a bit unsettling, this reimagination. Everyone seems to be going back faithfully to their roots. I am simply happy that this door has been opened. As long as Neverland is in control I'm at ease. The music, characters, and towns should be enough to wow me. If there's bad dialog I'm okay with that. I played Lufia II when I was what... 9 years old? I didn't understand a hefty chunk of what they were saying anyways.

And y'know what else is unsettling? Change! Sure this game is different, but it has some limitations due to the nature of the DS. Sure I'd love to see the battle cross again; but if this sells, and another game is made for a console, I'm sure even as an action RPG they can bring back the Battle Cross.

I've come to realize that Final Fantasy has poisoned us all. After settling with that for so long, and seeing a new lufia, we wanted a sequel that is similar to a FF game in form.

Will I buy the game? Yes. Will Erim's hair not be blue? Yes. Will Selan's hair be up like a retarded cockatoo? Sadly.... Yes Will it be different? YES. Will Lufia II always exist for me to come back to? YES AGAIN!

I'm excited to play this game, and I'm fairly certain I'll like it regardless. My expectations aren't high, they haven't been with Squenix anyways, but again, it's still Neverland so I will play it.

RANT OVER.

As long as we don't get any Lufia fans like the Sonic fans out there (who are boycotting Sonic 4 by buying Sonic 1....:S) I know I'm going to enjoy this game... and that's ll that matters ^^;
