Illusion of Gaia (SNES)

Postby Naminé » Fri Mar 11, 2005 12:12 am

Anyone played this game?

I was impressed that it was based on actual real-life areas (South Cape, Mu, those ruins in the sand, Tower of Babel, etc.).

Terranigma wasn't release here, so I never got to play it. The only bad thing with Illusion of Gaia was its occasional bad translation.

I've played the beginning (the first two or three dungeons), but so far I like Terranigma better than Illusion of Gaia/Time.

you know both games are good but it's really not proper to place two games from two different creators against each other especially for Natsume and Enix(Not sure on the spelling for the second). I mean I've STILL been playing Nastume games and now Square and Enix are one company so I've been happily playing them... ANYWAY MY POINT IS! Illusion of Gaia is actually a historical sub-genre combined with stories and regional ledgens. Lufia 2 is awesome but cause it's a level-fighting-cast-magic-till-your-tranced game with very little if no real world information. This other one your talking about... I never heard of it either so I'm taking it is a UK release... is that right?
This is what I say and I am sticking to it.. ^__^ love ya Nicholas

Yeah, it was release in Japan and the UK only (have no idea why, though).

Hmm... I think my cousins have Terranigma. I'll have to try and nab it from them one day. :)

I does sound really interesting.... What is the basic story line? Any kind of magic or anything involved?

Illusion of Gaia, you mean? Hmm...haven't played the game in a good five years...but I will try my best...

Will (the character you control), his father, and a team of archaologists (sp?) check out the Tower of Babel, but only Will returns back (he does not remember what happened to his father). A bunch of other people join him on his journey back to the tower.

I cannot give anymore info, since it would spoil the story somewhat. The translation for the game is somewhat shoddy at times, but was not bad for the time the game was released.

I might have to look for PAL copies of these games on eBay sometime. :)
